Favorite part of your role at MSBC?

My favorite part is that the roles I play are varied and not always expected.  I have discovered some leadership gifts.  I love to preach.  I get to play with technology (a little).  I find great joy in connecting with other pastors.  Overseeing (and participating in!) Celebrate Recovery for six years may be my biggest surprise joy in ministry.

How did you get into ministry?

Isn’t ministry the next natural step after being a paper research engineer?  I got into ministry as a student leader through InterVarsity Christian Fellowship after I became a Christ-follower at the University of Maine. After a few enjoyable years in the paper industry, I felt the (solid) nudge of God and started to pursue full-time vocational ministry.  I served as pastor of the First Baptist Church of South Berwick for a little over seven years before coming to Military Street Baptist Church in 2011.

Family Info

Mari is my delightful wife and partner in all of life and ministry. Home is wherever we are together. We have three children. I love them greatly and I am pleased to say that I also count them as friends. Ella is a sophomore at the University of Maine. Timothy is heading there in the fall. Sarah still has two years ahead at home (sorry, kiddo—mom and I will probably drive you crazy).

One thing God wants me to share with others...

He’s totally in charge, and that’s a good thing.  Oh, and if you don’t know about his son, Jesus…check that out as well.

What is a fun/interesting fact about you?

Important hobbies I’ve discovered since coming to Houlton: making bagels and playing disc golf.

What makes you laugh?

Lots of things that don’t sound as funny when I say them out loud.
